Tampons

I'm 14 and I started period a year ago this month and at the time I wanted to use tampons bc I feel like I'm wearing a diaper. I asked my mom and she ased her OB but he told me to wait a year and here it is. A year. I'm so ready to having to wear pads but I'm really nervous and I'm starting tomorrow. Does anyone and any tips or advice?
