Coming home outfit: keeping up with traditions

Mari
I just got Lily's coming home outfit! There are certain traditions that I hope are never forgotten!
My mom made my sister's, mine, my nieces, my oldest daughter and now my Lily's!
It just hit me that unless I learn the trade the tradition might be over with me!
I currently have all 5 coming home outfits in my pocesion!
My sister's was very simple, with embroiled pink, blue and yellow flowers.
Mine was all yellow! Even the embroidery was yellow... This might have led to yellow being my favorite color! Even the bib was made of the same cheesecloth fabric along with a blanket and a pillowcase! (I know a pillowcase! - what I could have suffocated!!!)
my nieces was the 1st grandchild! Her's was all pink! I mean pink galore! The blanket, the dress, the bib, handmade shoes and hat!!! And my sister had little say in it so my mom went full raggedy Ann hat, bloomers etc.
when I got pregnant I said NO PINK! I figured my tiny one would have enough time to wear pink. (Nothing against pink- just testing my boundaries with the artist! -- my mom)
We went with a beige dress with peach embroidery... Peach bow and a blanket with the same embroidery! It was perfect for my Lucy !
Now we are here... My Lily's. Although it was done in a hurry... My mom is older, my grandma is living with her, she's raising a teenager (my 16 yrs younger "baby" brother.) and the fact that I made the mistake of calling her and telling her that the dr. Thinks Lily will be petite! My mom stopped the one that she was doing - full of embroidery, bib etc...to make a "smaller- simpler version"
And I think this has been her biggest masterpiece so far! I haven't met my Lily yet... But there are certain things that you just feel are fitting. And I think this "simpler but elegant version" will describe my tiny one!
Bottom line here it is!
