In laws?

So we told my spouses parents on Easter. His father was fine and happy but his mom wasn't so much. She kind of stared at it with a blank stare and no emotion. Will she get happy? I'd like her to be excited.

My mom wasn't excited at first. I'm married for 8 years, own my own home, and planned this pregnancy. But she is very excited now!

I spoke to my boyfriend about it and he said she's more upset that she's getting old and not anything else. 😂 we've been together for a while and have 2 dogs great jobs and live on our own. Pretty much married without a piece of paper lol. She did pull me to the side and talk to me tho. She said she's excited but shocked. She's coming to my next appointment where we can hear the heart beat so hopefully she'll start to be more involved after that.

My MIL just told me that she has never wanted to be a grandmother,  so needless to say she is not excited at all, she doesn't care anything about me or baby, and she told my husband she doesn't want me in her house.  All of this is better for me because I can't stand her either... if she doesn't want to be a part of baby's life,  her loss! I just hope at some point the relationship will get better just for my husband. .. anyway,  don't worry hopefully your MIL will be much better grandma than mine :)

My ex husbands mother was less than thrilled when we told her of our first baby. But as pregnancy progressed she became more attached and then it was more her baby than mine. Saddens me that she only got to enjoy him 3 years before cancer took her life 😢 so she never personally met my daughter but she came to me in a dream telling me she was anxious to meet her granddaughter. 😭
Now my boyfriends mom passed away many years ago so I never had the pleasure to meet her but his sister, which is the closest to a mom he's got, is very happy for him even if we can't stand each other. His grandma in Honduras still doesn't know (that we know of) because it's high risk and he doesn't wanna get her hopes up, he's the baby of the family.

Some mom's can be jelous and selfish with their sons . But obviously something is  bothering her. Maybe try talking to her about it.
