Scared to breastfeed

The closer my due date arrives (36 days) the more scared I am to breastfeed! I keep hearing all these awful things about how bad it hurts and how terrible "letdown" is. I'm getting really discouraged and am on the fence about even trying now! There are no resources in my area or no one to really talk to as no one in my family has ever breastfed. I am just looking for some advice. I'm literally more scared of breastfeeding than I am giving birth and I know that sounds crazy!
