Is it my hormones or was this rude?

The other day my father in law and I were talking to this guy who was spraying our house for bugs. I knew the guy from when I worked at a coffee shop a couple of years before. I'm a stay at home mom now and pregnant with #2. The man pointed out that we had met before and my father in law said "yeah, that was when she HAD a job. Now all she does is make babies"

😕 it really hurt my feelings because I know sometimes they wish I would go back to work but it's just not practical right now. We can't afford to put two kids in daycare. Was it rude or am I just being emotional?

I think it's rude and unnecessary for him to have even said something. He was making a jab at you. I would've said something smart about running a household, taking care of your family and creatin life IS a job and the pay is better than any paper money. It's up to you and your husband how to run your household and if staying home is what works best than do it. Don't let anyone else tell you that you are wrong.

Very rude! Daycare is costly, sometimes the same amount people earn monthly! So why work when you can take care of your children then some stranger taking care of them.

Whoa! My dad is my super man to me and if he made a comment like this (to me) I wouldn't know how to respond other than to say "not in front of company daddy". But I'd also do some deep thinking. What does my dad really think of me.....my (our) situation? Does he think we are struggling on one income?

Idk? I truly value my dad's opinion (not that he gives it often) and would definitely have a convo with him.
