Words can hurt?

Question

This room drives me crazy. On one hand, I'm slightly addicted to all of the debating and learning from others, but on the other hand OH MY GOD WHY do people get SO BUTT HURT about what COMPLETE STRANGERS say? 
In my opinion, words can't hurt unless you let them- ESPECIALLY when we're talking about words from strangers on the Internet. 
So, here is the poll question: do you agree or disagree with my previous statement, that words CANT hurt you UNLESS you let them?

And now we sit back and watch as people unleash their butt hurt comments because they're offended by what I- a stranger- have said on the Internet. 🙄

How about you look up something. It's called "to this day". Words do hurt, a fück ton. I'm glad you've never experienced that kind of hurt, but don't go around dismissing it when other people have.

Sometimes I think the most butt hurt are those who seem to be upset over the notion that they actually can't just say whatever they want without consequence. I think it may be those who refuse to acknowledge that their words actually do have meaning and impact and therefore they might actually have to be thoughtful and considerate of what they say.

Lord knows we see enough of this "I'm upset that people are upset!" posts to make me think that way.

People get butthurt with my comments all the time. They call me names, down vote my comments, and call me a bully. Or they say I wouldn't be like this in real life. 😂😂😂 If they only knew lol 
I'm just a very blunt, honest, and sarcastic person. If it bothers people that much, well, that's on them 😜

I agree. BUT. 
Words generally don't hurt me. The only time something gets under my skin is when people bring my family into it. (Oh I feel bad for your child . Your husband is____. Etc) Talk about me all day and night but talk about my family and you just signed your death certificate.
