I've spoken to a few seasoned birth mothers, and what none have told me is how left out you feel.

Yeah, you're growing a baby and everyone, especially the adoptive family, dons over you, saying you're special and what a gift it is.

Yes, I'm growing this baby. But I don't get to be excited about when the parents choose nursery colours, I don't get to help them choose a name, I don't get to open gifts at the baby shower.

I don't get this baby.

I guess it just makes it difficult to be happy for the parents when I am selfishly feeling left out of the process.
