New Birth Control and Period?

So I am a little less than a week away from starting the last 5 pills, or sugar pills, in my birth control pack. That is usually when your period is supposed to be correct? I started this birth control about a week or so after my last period and right now is when i should be having my period. So ive been cramping and whatnot and i started bleeding today. But i still have those 7 or so pills until the end of this pack. I dont know if this is normal or not.. please help.
