Are abdominal scans always accurate early on??

I'm 7 weeks and had an abdominal scan done today they could not detect a heartbeat. Are abdominal scans this early always accurate? Has anyone gone through this and found the heart beat with a transvaginal scan?

They're not accurate that early. I went to the ER and she did an abdominal ultrasound at 7 weeks and couldn't find the heartbeat. She then did a vaginal and found it within seconds.

I didn't start getting abdominal scans till about 12 weeks

I had a transvaginal scan at 8 weeks.  We couldn't hear the heartbeat, but we could see it and the Dr was able to tell us the heart rate.  At 12 weeks when I had an abdominal ultrasound, we were able to hear the heart rate
