What problems have you experienced with Mirena?

I have had my IUD for a little over a year now and for the past month I have had constant spotting and bleeding . No pelvic pain or anything like that. Just an irritating thing to deal with. Was wondering if anyone Leeds had any imput.

Mine was inserted a little over a month ago as well and I have also had pretty consistent bleeding. It has been pretty light, but still almost every day. When I went in last week to have it checked (I couldn't reach the strings, which she told me happens with at least half of her patients) my doctor told me that the spotting/irregular bleeding told her it was in place and working and that it can be expected for 3-6 months or so, and that after that many women have their periods taper off or disappear. You know your body best, but it sounds like it's normal, albeit it inconvenient and annoying!

I hated that thing. I had it for a year and a half. My sex drive was nonexistent, my periods were so irregular, would skip like 3 months then be on for more than a week. And I had this horrible hip pain. As soon as it was removed everything went back to normal. Worst BC I've ever used!

Irregular periods and spotting are normal with IUDs.
Did you doctors not tell you this? It's pretty common information, even stated in the patient imformation pamphlet.
