Probiotics for baby?

Has anyone gave their baby probiotics for gas? His pediatrician recommended it and we're gonna pick some up tomorrow,but I was just wondering if anyone has tried them before?

Not personally for babies, but I have used them during my pregnancy and I see a HUGE difference in how I feel. If I forget to take them, I am prone to gas, bloating, heart burn & constipation :/ when I take them everyday, everything is great. Hormones during pregnancy cause our bodies to do crazy things. If probiotics can help during pregnancy I bet they'd really help a little baby's tummy too. Babies, regardless of gender still carry moms hormones for a while (this is why they are prone to a slight increase in breast tissue, little girls may bleed, and the reason they have baby acne)... If hormones cause all that, probiotics should help balance the craziness going on in their little bellies due to our hormones. :)

I know they help both mom and baby when taken while breastfeeding. I love taking them while I'm pregnant it helps me feel better and digest better. I'm sure they'll be great for baby, especially since your ped. Suggested them. :)

Since every baby is different, I cannot say that probiotics MAY not be useful.

However, be aware that it is in the interest that many companies sell you those (I am not a conspirationist ). So, I made my research:

There is no proof many probiotics have positive effect. Even worse, for formula fed baby, it may make it worse.

My general rule when looking  in forum: find the options, then study their veracity.
