Zika virus??

Is there any other pregnant women out there freaked out about the zika virus?!

There are no cases of people acquiring the virus locally, in the fifty states. The only cases that have been reported are people who acquired the virus traveling and their infected sexual partners. Obviously, it has the ~potential~ to become a threat but it is not one right now in the states. If you feel safer staying inside, by all means do that. But not travelling to the countries where Zima I IS a threat and using something to ward off mosquitos is enough for right now.

Me too!! Just type Zika virus in Google and it will come up with a bunch of recent news articles. The CDC just reported that the Zika virus is much scarier than they initially thought! I don't want to be stuck inside all summer! I love summertime! 🙁 News reports are saying that the type of mosquito that transmits the virus will be all over the US. Mostly in the south. There's a news story I found that lists 30 different cities in the US that will be affected by it. Two of those cities are in my state! 😳

Yes! It's moving way quicker then they said it was gunna! I don't even wanna go outside this summer because there's a lot of mosquitoes where I live.

Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not hearing a lot about Zika. But I thought the only reason it's here in America, now. Is because of people that got it abroad, from mosquitos and sexually transmitted?

I'm going to the Maldives in June and my doctor wasn't worried about it at all. Apparently, it's in another part of the world (not in the Maldives). So, hopefully it stays that way! I'm not going to worry about it though. Or atlas try not to! Good luck!

I am traveling the Florida on May 14th for a week and I talked to my doctor about it. He said it is safe to travel there, just make sure you are protecting yourself. It's also important to protect yourself for more common potential issues like ensuring you stay hidrated & dont get overheated.

Hands up 100%. The nurses handed out a paper to ask expecting mothers about it, but told us it's not in Texas at the moment. Until I watched the news last night, 5 cases now in my city. They continuously pointed out that it's going to effect pregnant women the most, way to trap me in a bubble. But the nurses instructed us to wear mosquito repellent all the time. I don't even want to go out.
