Nicole • Expecting my first April 15th,2016. 💙💙
So I went in to be induced today at 5am on 4/14/16 , at about 730 they started the pitocin and I started feeling the contractions about an hour later, so I asked for my epidural at that time. Like most, I was VERY nervous to have this done as it is a risky procedure and not some simple injection. As I was having it done , one of the nursing students who was shadowing the anesthesiologist was comforting me while I had my face buried into the pillow trying not to move. It was just a moment later when I hear a crazy loud thump on the ground, immediately followed by a nurse grab ahold of me , say "oh shit" and "don't look"! Well of course I looked!.... the nursing student is now on the ground PASSED OUT unconscious and bleeding out of the head! About 15 people from the ER show up and out this poor lady on a stretcher while I am STILL getting my epidural and having INTENSE contractions on the pitocin drip. I tried so hard not to move or cry as you can become paralyzed if you move the wrong way ! Ok well as if this wasn't enough stress for the day, things were moving along GREAT , I became 10cm dialated by 1:30 and didn't feel a thing! I got the nurses and started to push , it was when I heard them say they need the pediatric team up there immediately and to get the vacuum that I knew something was wrong. My mom looked at me and said when they say push you push ! Well I got my strength together and pushed as hard as I could and bam out came baby. Turned out me and baby's heartbeats kept dropping and weren't picking back up and the umbilical cord was around his neck, but he came out loud and VERY alert! After 6 easy hours of pain free labor and Only 22 minutes of pushing I had a very healthy baby boy ! Meet Roman Christopher 7lb 2oz 20 inches
