Starting a new job and pregnant
Hi everyone, I'm a nurse and I graduated last year. My dream has always been to work in a hospital. I don't have my BSN yet, which most hospitals prefer, but I am taking online classes for it and I applied for the job anyway... I interviewed for the position I want in March, and found out 3 weeks ago I got the job! 😀 I start on April 25th, and I'm so excited and I feel so fortunate.
I just found out yesterday that I'm pregnant. Which we are also ecstatic about, it's been a rough road for me so I'm very thankful for the great things happening in my life!
As a nurse there are certain patients I can't care for while pregnant...and certain meds that shouldn't be handled while
Pregnant...also shouldn't be lifting patients...
Im just wondering is it unfair to my employer to start this job while newly pregnant? I will be on orientation for 3 months and then on my own for the last 6 and then maternity leave.
Should I wait until after the baby is born and apply again then?
