Need opinions!!

I got engaged in August! I've been with my fiancé for 3 years. He's everything to me. My mom wants me to have a wedding but he doesn't want to have a wedding at all. It doesn't matter to me tho. My parents are really strict and we don't have a lot of money since my dad recently got laid off from his work. I would rather not have a wedding instead I'd rather have a place to live when we get married. I think my parents are going to be real upset if I don't have a wedding but then my fiancé wouldn't be a happy either. I don't know what to do!
