Announcement - did you call extended family and not so close friends before sending out your announcement card/picture...?

Hi all, all my close friends and family know that I'm 13 weeks (told them right away) pregnant. 
Now is time to tell uncles, aunts, not so close friends, etc... 
My husband and I are debating whether we should first call everyone and then send our announcement picture. Is just an email not personal enough? Will people be upset if we don't call them?
What did you guys do? What was your experience?

I called family I was closest with, texted the rest of my close family, and then posted on social media.

I'm not close with my extended family like that so I wouldn't call. My mom will probabl call her brothers and my aunt though.

If you haven't talked to them for awhile don't you think it'd be kind of awkward.. It would be for me lol I have a bunch of family in Georgia but if I would have called them and told them I was pregnant it would have been weird because it's like 'hey how you been I'm pregnant' 'oh really congrats!' 'Thank you!' 'So.. That was it ?' ..😂😂 lol that's why I only called my grandma who is in Mexico, my great grandpa and everyone else close to me I told in person (parents, siblings, & it was around thanksgiving so all of my uncles and aunts were there &I took advantage and told them there) I don't have Facebook but my mom does and that's how everyone else found out.
But I think you should just post it on social media and it'll literally go around before you know. Unless you have a close relationship with someone , then call them!

I didn't do an online announcement or anything, I just told family and close friends in person or by phone.
Everyone else found out through those people and as far as I know nobody got upset if they're event told by me. If you're not super close with them I think just the announcement is fine :)

I think I texted my dad who lives in another state but I put it on social media for everyone else (told parents and my siblings in person), lots of family members in other states so it was easier and quicker to do it that way.
