Metformin- what's the deal?

Question

Starting Metformin soon and wanted to know if anyone took it and what the side effects were, did you have to make any other lifestyle/diet changes while on it, how long did it take to get pregnant? I don't meet with the doctor for another 2 weeks and just bracing myself for changing my diet, decreasing my exercise, etc. Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Took metaformin before and one of the side effects is stomach upset. Doctor put me on Ovisitol which regulated my insulin and period.

I'm on 4 pills a day, started on one pill a day and by week four, was up to full dosage. I'm lucky and didn't have any side effects. I take it with a meal, and notice I feel sick if I take on an empty stomach

I HATED metformin. I was supposed to take 3 but usually could only tolerate two. Basically I felt perpetually carsick. The last round of Clomid we did, I only took the metformin until I stopped the clomid on CD 8. And guess what, its 8 weeks later and I'm pregnant. So I'm sure taking the metformin helped my body regulate my blood sugar and help the metformin work and blah blah... But I'm sure that it also helped to STOP taking it so that I would feel healthy and normal again.

Hi I've been on metformin for 7 years not many side effects just headache now and then and Tummy ache from time to time I was put on this for pcos and to regulate my periods any more questions please ask xx

I was put on metformin 5 months ago.  I am suppose to work my way up to 3 pills a day or 1500mg (one in the morning and 2 at night)  i was having a lot of trouble with the two- daily diharea, mentioned it to my OB and she switched me to the slow release pills.  I am doing much better and am going to try to the 1500mg this week.  Like the other ladies said stay away from carbs bad things come from eating them.  Good luck!

I've been on Metformin for 2 months. It's not too bad. The first few weeks are definitely an adjustment. I avoided carbs and sugars as much as possible (caused way too much heartburn/nausea/diarrhea). My energy was also low for a couple of weeks. During the first month I actually lost about 10 pounds. Now that I'm adjusted though, it's really fine. No symptoms at all in the last few weeks. Good luck!

I honestly had no side effects but I have been told I'm lucky. I have lost 30 lbs and feel so much better. I have made huge changes in my diet. But I'm happy I started taking it. My cycles have become normal. Now I'm just hoping for my bfp soon!
