My doctor specifically told me to not travel to any countries with zika.

I should add ... The Zika virus has been reported in all of these countries. I'm worried about my babies safety more than my own.

There is no treatment or cure for Zika. So just watching for symptoms after the fact will be pretty useless. There is no way of knowing how it might affect your baby. Why even risk it?

I understand being concerned about zika.  But I really think we all need to take a step back for a second.  Should we be careful, yes. Should we be mindful of where it is, yes.  But it's in the US now too. So are you going to keep running from it?  Are all of the pregnant women going to move state to state and then country to country trying to run from it, no that's nonsense. Obviously don't go running through a swamp without big spray on.  But keep living your lives! All of this "why risk it", where do you draw the line? If you found out there was zika in your state would you leave?  If your husband went to a place that had zika would you refuse to be intimate with him until he was tested for it? Be smart, and do what you think is best for you.  I just don't think we need to give in to this mass hysteria.

I live in South Texas on the Gulf Coast, my doctor said it is just as likely to get it in our city as it is spending a day in these countries.  My husband is always always out to sea and he could contract it and bring it home to me.  Ugh!  I hate mosquitoes, they serve no purpose in this world.
