Hotel etiquette.. (it's really not that hard)
I work in a hotel, so here's a few things to make things easier for your housekeepers.
○check out AT checkout time. (housekeepers are being timed.)
○if you do not want to be disturbed, there is a magical "do not disturb sign" we will not bother you! But do not get pissed if your sign isn't up and a housekeeper knocks.
○FLUSH YOUR POOP/PEE . We do NOT want to see that!
○SPIT YOUR DIP IN A BOTTLE WITH A LID! NOT A CUP, NOT IN THE TRASH!○DO NOT SMOKE IN THE ROOM IF IT IS NONSMOKING
○if you are staying more than one night, make it easier for housekeepers to get to your bed to make it
○do not trash the room. We are only allowed 15 min in stayovers and 30 minutes in checkouts
○just because you spend alot of money on a room does not mean you're allowed to trash it.
○tip your housekeeper. It's really a hard and demanding job.(I'm lucky to get 1 day off)
○we will do our best to accommodate to your needs, but do not get mad that I don't have free toothbrushes or shower caps to hand out. Front desk will take care of those needs for you.
○if you are staying more than one night, and the housekeepers clean your room, do not let it look like it hasn't been serviced in weeks the next day...how is that even possible?
○do not take your do not disturb sign down really late..ie close to checkout or check in time. We are supposed to be out of there by then. And if you take it down, we have to go through and do it. Take it off earlier. If you don't want anything but towels, let us know; we will give you towels and will not bother you again.
It's really not hard to have respect for someone who works 6 or 7 days a week. And constantly getting lectured because guests are trashing rooms making us go over our hours we are allowed.
