What was your breastfeeding experience in the first 4 weeks of your first baby's life?

The begging is very tough, however the bond and the nutrition you're giving to your child is amazing.

The first month is hard. I won't lie. There were so many times I wanted to throw in the towel and just give my baby formula. But I would read a blog every day just to keep me motivated (I'll link it down below in a bit) 
Keep with it, and it will become so insanely easy.

The first week, your nips will hurt! Just make sure to apply the nip balm after every single feeding cuz it does help a lot.

On the third or fourth day your boobs will feel ROCK HARD and will be HUGE. It looks nice (haha, I had to find something to make myself feel better about the pain!) but it hurts sooo bad. The pain only lasted a day, if I remember correctly, so just press through. Just feed your baby regularly and it will help with the pressure. I think the doc said it was the "real" milk coming in (instead of the colostrum)

The first 6 weeks are really painful. My son was drinking my blood. But then suddenly, it doesn't hurt at all! You can stretch your nipple six inches, and it doesn't hurt. Best advice given to me was done quit on your worst day. I kept repeating that and made it over the hump! Get nipple butter and wireless bras. Be prepared that you won't want to hug anyone. I promise it gets better after that.

Cabbage leaves helped me the first week. I also aired them out. A good latch is super important too.

I can't wait to breastfeed! I found the classes really helpful, make sure you get the number for your hospitals lactation consultant incase you need it too😊 from what I've learnt the first 6 weeks can be really difficult but it will get a lot easier after that

I personally had a really hard time breastfeeding, it was too painful and sometimes I just wanted to cry. I started pumping and supplementing with formula until my milk came in. I tried breastfeeding again and it wasn't painful at all, I think the pumping helped a lot. Btw I'm only 12 days PP

I put baby to breast as soon as he was born and he latched within minutes. The nurses later helped us fix his latch so it caused less pain for my nipples. Milk letdown was kinda painful for first few weeks because it caused light contractions as my body healed. After a few weeks it was second nature for both of us and no longer painful/uncomfortable. Breastfed for 16 months. Loved the bonding time and loved how easy and convinient it was!

It was more of needing to build a tolerance. If it is really hurting get some ibclc info and get in touch. Could be a bad latch or something else a minor adjustment would make pain free!
