advice needed

I am 30 weeks. I have been having cramping in my cervix and belly since yesterday. I was up all night and it wasn't bothering me during the day until around 7:00. I feel bad I am at my finances parents house celebrating his birthday. I mentioned I was having cramps and he told me to call the dr. I know that if I call my doctor he is going to send me to L&D and when I told him that he said "well if you need to leave baby, it's ok" so now I am crying because I don't know what to do, I don't want to freak out his family by leaving, I don't really want to go by myself. I haven't even called the doctor yet. I seriously don't know what to do. am I over reacting? I don't want to call the doctor if I don't have to. I feel bad bothering him on a Saturday night.
