To circumcise or not to circumcise?

Let's hear some pros and cons of both. I'm having my little boy finally and his daddy wants to leave his boy parts alone.

I am firmly against it and will not be circumcising any of sons. Circumcision is typically done as a cosmetic procedure to alter the appearance of a penis. That's it. I believe that choice should be left to the individual, as it is their body. I also do not see the purpose of removing a normal and healthy part of the body bc it MIGHT prevent problems later or because SOME people find it more attractive. But, it's ultimately up to the parents and they should do their own research and come to a decision that they are BOTH comfortable with.

I hate when I see this question on this app because there is always that one person saying uncircumcised penises are discusting, when it should be the norm because its natural. We are leaving our babies part alone. There aren't any real benefits of circumcision. People will argue cleanliness, but let's be real they mostly do it for astetic reasons. Do what you prefer and what you think is best for your baby.👍🏼

I work at a pediatrician's office and have talked to both doctors about it as I am having a little boy. They mostly say it is a personal decision, but as I do the billing, I have to read through a lot of notes! There have been some little boys who have developed infections or a hernia and have had to be circumcised at an older age (one was even 19!) When they are younger than 2 months, there really isn't any blood vessels or nerves down to the foreskin, so if it's going to be done, you want it done then! When they are older it is much more painful! I wouldn't have it done at the hospital, that is went student doctors are likely to do it and more likely to have it botched. If you are going to do it, have it done in the office when the baby is about 2 weeks old and by a doctor you know is skilled!

As someone who takes care of those who are uncirumsised later in life I would reccomend it. Once a man hits the age where he has trouble doing it himself it often gets infected and starts growing over. I have had to split many to get them pulled back for cleaning and I can tell you it is awful! Iv also seen old men have to go get them removed due to not being able to clean them well but refusing help. :'( My aunt chose not to do her two sons...one is in his teens and fine. The other had problems in his early 20s and had to deal with the pain of getting circumsised. :'( Poor kid. I once dated a guy that wasnt and even though he cleaned his constantly it stunk so bad that I wouldnt give him a BJ...he disclosed that he had always had that problem and that noone would go down on him. I have not seen any cases that ended in good from this. Not saying it cant go well...just havent ever seen it go well.

If you feel you need to circumcise something that is for cosmetic reasons than you should sit in the room as they cut the "extra" skin off your son and watch your newborn cry in excruciating pain. Why do you think they make you wait outside? This is also why insurances do not cover this procedure, because it's not necessary. If you clean it correctly you shouldn't have a problem. I spoke to a few pediatricians and they said it was totally cosmetic

My son is intact, he's not 3 and hasn't had one issue yet. It's all about hygiene and teaching them at a young age to keep clean. Obviously it is the parents choice and personal preference so whatever you decide will be the right choice for your family. Also if you chose not to please don't worry about what other people will think and telling you it's gross or unsanitary, I've heard it all and my only response is that my son is healthy as can be with no problems ever.

I think it's the parents personal opinion. I had my son circumsized and haven't had any issues. I just feel like, if I were a boy in, let's say, high school, and wasn't circumsized that I would feel self concious about it in the locker room or around ladies in the future. That's just me. I didn't want my son thinking he was different or abnormal. As far as the procedure goes, he was numbed, he still didn't like it very much but after a few minutes he forgot all about it. Maintenance afterwards was easy enough. Do what you feel is right.

I did not circumcise my son and he is 7 I wish I would have he hurts when he pees and it's hard for him to clean it so being 7 I still have to help him so I'd say I would so if I'm having a boy I know I'm going to

I myself am against it just because I 1) don't see the point in it at all. It's not medically necessary so why bother? 2) My boyfriend had it done when he reached his teen years and regrets it because it hurts him at times and being circumcised has taken away some of the sensation during sex. 3) It's not my penis so I feel like I don't have a say or need to have a say in it regardless.
If we were to find out that we were having a little boy, I told my boyfriend that I'd leave the decision entirely up to him and thankfully, he said that he wouldn't have it done and that he'd leave it up to the baby once he got older. We found out that we're having a girl but I'm still glad that we're both on the same page when it comes to circumcision because it's just one less headache for the two of us. ☺️

Personal decision, always pros and cons and either of them can be equally as true. My husband and I chose circumcision with both our boys, no issues.
