Nitrates?

I ate 6 pieces of turkey butterball bacon last night, not knowing there is nitrates. Should everything be ok? I'm 19 weeks , 6 days.

Everything in moderation! Was reading about nitrates in foods. Read something about how vitamin c helps counter act the bad things that nitrates turn into when they break down in your body. So if I go a little crazy with a hotdog craving or cheap summer sausage, I drink some OJ too. Haha. I mostly buy nitrate free deli meats, summer sausage and organic hotdogs but sometimes it's not what's available. Also read that since vitamin c is so beneficial to counteracting nitrates in body, the FDA requires foods with nitrates to also have citric acid or something added to help counteract it. This is google knowledge tho, so take it with a grain of sand. But again, everything in moderation.  :)

I've been eating bacon this pregnancy but I pick up the no nitrates added. However nitrates are found in a ton of healthy foods and it is a nutrient we require. But what is bad are nitrates added to meats that are heated at a high temp. That's when it becomes carcinogenic and realllllly bad for your overall health.
