Marijuana while breastfeeding?

Thoughts? Experiences? Haven't even hit the good old Google for this one yet, I'm just curious if any mommies have or currently are smoking and breastfeeding.

I have in the past. Personally I researched as mush as possible and I dont believe weed is bad for either me or baby.

It's a complicated matter though and you are bound to be judged to death.

I try not to smoke actual tobacco though as the effects of that have been well proven.

If you are looking for studies on pregnancy and breastfeeding and marijuana you can google Dr Melanie Dreher and she has so much info on what she has studied over the past 30 years. It's amazing. And will no doubt put your mind at ease.

My mother in law is a labor and delivery nurse and has been for 30 years. She has taught thousands of birthing classes, is a lactation consultant, and is all about natural health and delivery of babies. She has seen it all, from babies that are born addicted to hardcore drugs and mothers that have been drinking and smoking cigarettes their entire pregnancies. She told my husband and I that she has NEVER seen a problem with a child whose mother solely ingested marijuana while pregnant. She also said that smoking while breastfeeding was not a known issue and that if anything was passed to the baby it would be nothing more than the cannabanoids that are already found in a mothers breast milk. She wasn't an advocate of pot or anything, she was just giving us her educated opinion on the matter. Toke on lady!

Why would you?! If it's just for your pleasure and no major medical reason it's just plain selfish! If you need to smoke you shouldn't breastfeed, period!

The same thing that is in marijuana is in the breast milk to calm babies down as they drink and that is proven fact. Its just a herb anyways so I don't see anything wrong with it I love it! And it's known to cure anything so why not! Just don't smoke so much every day is all I have to say lol

Well anything you do..drink smoke etc will be in breast milk..im probably gonna get a ton of rude comments f5ir this one....i havent smoked anything in 2 years..quit on my own but i did breast feed and smoke weed with my last 2 and both are just fine..in fact super smart for their ages. My son is in 3rd grade with a reading level of a 7th grader and my 2 year old is beyond smart. No i am not saying its ok to do it..im not saying my kids are smart bc of it im just giving my personal experience...would i do it now..no bc i dont smoke anymore lol

Lol crazy. I was just actually watching videos on this exact subject. Maybe instead of google you can use its sister Youtube. There isnt helpful videos well cause most are anti marijuana..but I honestly think its the best thing ever. Its not like ur consuming alcohol or hard drugs? Its a herrrb. And i also have heard that thc doesnt even get to the milk ducts. But then i heard it does and it reaches the baby and makes the baby more hungry. Thc also holds onto the fat cells so youll have more fat for your baby😚

I personally would not say my kids are smart bc of marijuana...personally. just saying i dont think breastfeeding and smoking had any adverse effects on them..and i stopped smoking while pregnant. With that being said id much rather see a woman smoking while breastfeeding and pregnant than doing any other drug out there.

No matter what women who smoke while pregnant or breastfeeding will always find a way to justify their need to want to smoke they're always going to find some dr. That supports them they're always going to find some type of research that supports them if weed was truly that safe it would never be illegal and would never be this much of a controversy there just some people out there that will never grow up they will always want to rebel  against something they don't care that they may be hurting their kids as long as they find one thing that says it's safe they're going to follow that one thing even though there may be hundreds of thousands of things that that say no they will always follow that one yes you can't help these people don't waste your breath feel sorry for the children and pray for the best
