Limited weight gain and dietician?
Hello all, my BMI qualifies me for obese which kills me. I've gained a ton of weight in the past 2 years due to injury and infertility. I ate a lot of feelings in the past few years. And then the fertility drugs made me BALLOON up in the past 6 months. I'm super grateful to be pregnant and of course know that being overweight causes complications. BUT... My blood pressure, cholesterol, and sugars are just fine. I'm healthy, just bigger than the BMI chart says is healthy.
At my first perinatal appointment the doctor suggested I gain between zero and 11 pounds. Has anyone else been told such a limited weight gain? If so what are your strategies for success? I am going to ask for a referral to a dietician at my Thursday appointment and ask for some information about controlling weight gain. I blindly agreed with the doctor at the last appointment, so grateful to see baby on a sonogram. But now I'm kind of irritated that she just told me not to gain weight but didn't offer anything to help support that goal. I feel like there is a stigma that plus size people know how to lose weight and we just choose not too. But I really feel like I've tried over the past few years to control my weight and have been stymied by grief, injuries, and the fertility treatments.
Thanks for any thoughts and feedback. Lots of love and luck to you mama's!!!
