How many embryos did you transfer?

We are officially moving onto IVF. This is a whole new territory for me since I've always been on medicated cycles (clomid or femara). Scary but exciting! One question that I know will be up to us is how many embryos will we want to transfer. Our Doctor says ideally only one embryo, but it is our choice if we want to transfer two. Two is the max though! We're literally pooling everything we have to pay for this one try, so of course we want better odds with going with two embryos (assuming I'll have that option). If you've tried IVF, can you share your age, and how many you chose to transfer and if you got your BFP?

I did my cycles in this order, 2 fresh IVF and one FET. I started in 2014. I was 34, during my first IVF cycle and transferred 2 embryos, and I got a BFP. But miscarried at 8 weeks. 2nd fresh cycle, I was 35, transferred 2 almost perfect embryos, again. Resulted in BFN. Last cycle, which was an FET, transferred our last 2 less-than-perfect embryos, at 35, and resulted in...

30 years old. First try, transferred 1 BFP but miscarried early. Tested the embryo and she had a genetic problem.  Second try, still 30 years old, did genetic testing, transferred 1, BFP with this sweet baby girl!

I would do two. I had the same question going through my first round of IVF and was devastated when on transfer day I found out we only had one embryo to transfer. Of all that fertilized only one made it and I still got a bfn. Transfer 2 if you are able. Better twins than go through what I'm feeling after this failed cycle and 15k down the drain. Hoping for a much better result this time.

Transferred two, one took one did not. Will be 34 when baby arrives! How many we transferred depended on many things including how many we would freeze(made it to the correct stage to freeze) and lots of input from our wonderful doctor!

A lot depends on your age and the quality of the embryos. We transferred 2 good quality and our donor was 28. They both took!

If and when we have to go to IVF, we will be doing the max amount of transfers. The odds are more in your favor and that's potentially one less cycle you have to take all of the crazy hormones.

Also, make sure your Dr and embryologist are able to transfer "5days" instead of "3days"... The success rate is significantly higher bc of the development stage of the embryo.
