Choosing to skip a period one month.

I take the pill, and I take it religiously at the same time daily. Say I'm going to the beach next month and I'm supposed to be due that week, can I start my new pack on the week with the white placebo pills? I have never done it before and I have heard it helps and I know you can't do it often but I'd literally only do it this time because last year I was on my period for our last beach trip and I couldn't do anything fun with the family.
