When was your Gestational diabetes test?

My doctor is doing mine at 17 weeks and I thought that was pretty early but maybe not? What about you guys?

I'm annoyed because the hospital I go to still does them at 28 weeks despite all the evidence that says they should be done at 24 weeks and by 28 weeks if you have gd damage is already being done. I'm tempted to cancel and tell them I won't have it if they aren't going to do it at the time that is proven to be most effective.

Traditionally it is done around 28 weeks, but if your personal or family history indicate you are at a higher risk they may test earlier to make sure they start monitoring and treatment earlier.

Mine's at 17 weeks. I'm 31, my BMI is around 19-20 , I'm fit, active and have no health problems so not quite sure why mine's so early.

I guess better finding out earlier than later.

Just depends on what you've been eating and what you weigh  they judge whether to test you it's really goes by gut feeling because mine was done at like 12 weeks and then they're going to do another one at 28weeks

I'm scheduled for one at my 8 week appt. :/ I guess because of my starting weight and my dad has diabetes. I'm 200lbs at 5'8" and I know I'm overweight but it's not like I'm crazy huge. I'm tall so I look normal. Lol

I had to do an early one at 16 weeks and then the routine one at 28 weeks. It all depends on your family history, your sugar levels in your urine during your routine testing etc... The midwife at my doc's office assumed because I was heavy I would develop GD early so she had me take the early one and I passed so they had me take the routine one and I passed that as well.

I would ask why there doing yours so early, I had mines done at 26 weeks.
