Tearing/Episiotomy During First Labor?

Question

What kind of tearing did you experience after the birth of your first child? Comment with birth environment (hospital bed, freely moving, water birth?).

I had a first degree tear. All natural home birth. I wasn't allowed to push in the water because there was meconium in my amniotic fluid. The midwives used warm compresses to help me not tear but in the end I tore a little. My baby was 7lbs 11oz.

Perinatal stretching saved me from tearing with my first. I'm only 5'3 and he weighed 7.8 lbs. I'm scared about this one, she seems bigger😱

I had a 4th degree episiotomy with my first and it was a vacuum assisted birth.... Now I'm waiting to have my second any time now and I'm extremely scared to have another one. I had a natural delivery which lasted 27 hrs (timing the time I got admitted until baby was born) I spent most of the time walking and in shower but my baby was stuck. I do not wish to have another 4th degree cut it took forever to heal and it hurt more than actually having the baby.

They let me walk around at first, then they made me get in the bed. Would not even let me sit up because the monitors would mess up. I did it without an epidural and the doctor was about to do an episiotomy, but his head popped out (I did not want an episiotomy, did not know she was about to do it only way I know is hubs told me she grabbed the scissors and when she turned back his head was out and she said, "oh.") I think episiotomy is an over-used practice. I did not tear. With my 2nd and 3rd had home births. So much better. Did not tear then either.

I was induced. I was in labor for 50 hours. I did free movement until the 30 hour mark when I couldn't take the pain any more and got an epidural. I took the epidural out to use a squat bar to give birth. Then I experienced my second degree tear. 18 days pp and it's already feeling better though.

I had an episiotomy with my first. She was sunny side up. I pushed for 3.5 hours and finally had a vacuum assisted delivery.
