Ttc after 1 year...

I had a question... My husband and I have been trying a year this month! My last appointment which was in December my dr said that everything seemed ok and she would see me when I had my bfp. Well here we are its May and still nothing. So I've made another appointment and had talked with my dr briefly through email. She wants to start infertility testing. She wants to see if my tubes are blocked shooting the dye in me . My question is I've heard good and bad things with this test! Can anyone give me some input about this test!? Is it worth it? I just wanted to go straight to the Clomid but she rather test!! Has anyone else had these work up tests after a year? I feel like something's wrong bc she wants to do the tests rather then just try the  Clomid! Can anyone give me some advice ? My appointments tomorrow so I want to be prepared as to what I want to do as far as the tests go! Help!
