Will they send you home if you have Strep B?

Question

I tested positive for strep B today. My OB told me when my water breaks, to go straight to labor and delivery and not to wait for contractions. My question is, if my water breaks but I am not dilating, will the nurses send me home? Or will they keep me there on antibiotics? If anyone has experienced this please let me know! Lots of preggos get sent home because they're not dilating fast enough for the hospital to keep them.. Is there an exception when you test positive for strep B?

They won't send you home if they confirm your water has broken. Dilated or not. There's a larger risk of infection the longer your water is broken without delivering baby.

If your water breaks there is no sending you home. You stay until the baby comes and yes they would hook you up to antibiotics.

I tested positive and with all my kids they told me that I just had to get antibiotics 1 hour before delivery .

They will keep you.   Once your water breaks the longer you go without delivering the. Higher risk of transferring to the baby.

I was strep b with my first and after 38 hours of labor we went with a c section.  Also because of stopping dialating but as the fluid decreased they were worried about strep b.

They shouldn't send you home regardless if your water has broken. Most doctors don't want you to go over 24 hrs with broken waters, so they should keep you. But especially since you will need antibiotics at some point as well.

I had it I got induced a week before due date and they just put an antibiotic in with my iv

My guess is more of the water breaking they are concerned about. If you go home, you may get exposure to more germs. But you only need the meds 1 hour before a vaginal delivery.

They shouldn't. I've tested positive for strep b through all of my pregnancies. As soon as I went in with labor pains, whether my water broke or not, they admitted me and had me on iv antibiotics. If you're that worried or concerned talk to your doctor about the procedures of labor some more. Strep b can cause some serious issues for baby if not handled properly.
