Can anyone tell me about getting induced? Please

My doctor said after 37 weeks I can schedule to get induced close to my due date.

I loved my induction! They start you on pitocin and the second you become uncomfortable, they can give you an epidural. I honesty felt nothing the whole time. Not only that but my labor was only 6 hours including the pushing time! Oh and I had twins!

I was induced with my first at almost 41 weeks. I was a day shy from being 41. My induction date was December 26th at 9pm. Went in and they used the cervidil on me. I refused the pitocin. Didn't want that. The cervidil worked for me. But earlier that day I had my midwife appointment and had my membranes stripped so maybe that's why it worked for me. Had baby next morning at 7:30 am. Didn't have an epidural by choice. But everything went fine for me.

It depends on how you do it, I suppose. Cervadil is a suppository they put close to your cervix to soften it, which will help to induce a natural labour if your body is ready. It doesn't have a huge success rate, but in my experience is the better starting option if you're close already.
When being induced with pictocin, it starts labour because it's a synthetic form of ocytocin, the hormone your body uses to naturally bring on contractions and dialation. It's generally a much harder labour for both you and baby, because it brings on stronger contractions with much less time in between for rest. It has a higher chance of putting your baby in destress, therefor a higher chance that you'll need an emergency c section part way through.
Every woman is different, and one woman's experience with induction may differ substantially than another's. I have one friend who said pictocin was the worst pain she ever experienced, while another said that besides the contractions getting closer together, she felt that they stayed the same pain-wise. I encourage you to do more research online before you make a decision!

I had a pessary fitted at 38 weeks, this was in for 36hours (the maximum time) it did not work so was removed a few hours later they broke my waters with a large hook like rod then took me over to labour ward where they fitted me on a hormone drip to bring on contractions, they turned it up slowly to makes them more intense. My baby turned back to back, not sure if this is related to being induced but my sister also had same thing happen with her baby. I was in labour 7 hours in back labour, very very painful.
