Is the umbilical cord supposed to look like this when it falls off? I think it looks horrible but I'm not sure.

I'd go to the doctor.  Doesn't usually look like that. Should fall off and just be healed skin.

Yup, I think is infected! Normally should looks black, cause is dry but not like that! You should take her/him to the doctor, hun, just to make sure!!

I would keep it clean as much as possible and leave it open to let it get air. It does look like it may be infected

If you feel worried, always take them in. But I will say both my boys looked like this and everything was fine.

My daughter's look the same. Her doctor said it was healing just fine and reminded me to keep it dry at all times. It just fell off a little early that's all. It healed perfectly afterwards. Just let ths doc know if it cont to get worst.

Take your baby to the dr. When I took my son she said if it looks yellow or has any liquid or crust around it, it's infected.
