ER visit last night due to decrease of movement

Hey all, thought I'd share my experience with you guys so maybe you don't freak out as much as I did last night. Here is the background to the story, might be a bit long...

FTM, 17w+3 yesterday. Have been feeling kicks since 15w+1. Last week from Tuesday to Thursday (16w4 - 17w) baby was moving and kicking a lot - every hour. Friday was a shit day at work and I did not feel baby as much. I thought baby might feel my anger. Saturday even less movement, I was really active the whole day, got a bit nervous but thought baby is being moved around by me so does not move on its own so much. Yesterday, Sunday, I felt baby kick once in the morning. And that was it. Even when I tried to stimulate through my belly by pushing a bit with my hands, there was no "response".

I started to feel quite anxious in the evening and my husband called the hospital to find out if it is normal. They asked plenty of questions and suggested that we come to the ER for an ultrasound to see baby move and find the heartbeat. The hospital staff welcomed us right away (hospital was really quiet). After enquiring about the pregnancy, the technician did an ultrasound and baby was moving A LOT!!!! And I could not feel any of it! Baby was doing super well, heart beating fast. It was amazing to see.

I had read in a few publications that babies at this stage are active for 5mns at a time and then sleep. So last week, when I felt baby move every hour or every other hour for a couple of minutes, I thought I could feel most movements. It turns out, I probably feel just about 10% of the movements.

The doctor explained that until 25 weeks, it is absolutely normal not to feel the same patterns of movement every day. That you should only worry if you get sudden, intense cramping, bleeding or leaking of liquid.

Needless to say, this visit to the ER reassured me a lot and I cannot wait to go for my anatomy scan in 2 days (finding out gender - did not even ask last night at the hospital).

I thought I would share this so if you also don't feel baby as much one day you don't 😨😱😭 freak out! 😀😊
