Ovulation test/kit

Glow keeps asking me to take an ovulation test- but all I can find are "kits" that want me to pee on a stick every day once I start spotting before my period. The only thing is, it's SO hard for me to tell when I'm "spotting". Sometimes I'll go to the bathroom and wipe and it kinda sorta looks like spotting- but then nothing will happen for days. Or I'll have sex days before I'm about to start and notice what looks like brown spotting- but again my period won't actually start for days after that, and no other spotting occurs. So my question is: when do I start peeing on the sticks? It's also frustrating to me because I've tried this before and never completed the test strip box, so of course none ever said I was ovulating. Why is it so hard for me tell when I'm ovulating?! I also just had my doctor tell me a cyst recently ruptured on my left ovary- so now I'm pulling for my right ovary to be strong and ovulate. Ugh! Please help!
