Should we announce a name before baby is born?

We officially picked out a name for our baby and I'm completely in love with the name and it's eating me inside and I want to tell the world! But on the other hand I want to keep it a secret and have it be a big thing when we announce it at the birth...what has everyone else done and has anyone regretted their decision to keep it a secret/tell?

People have such strong opinions on names, that they don't hesitate to share, even when it's your for sure choice! We told everyone last time and I was shocked at how bold people are. Save yourself the frustration and keep it a surprise 😊

I think it would be very neat to wait! I have seen so many people be heartbroken over their families comments on a name they loved and it made them choose something they didn't love as much! I think it's very cool to wait! There aren't a whole lot of surprises anymore in this day and age ❤️

I'm definitely waiting. Until the baby is out in the world! With my first I had a couple names I thought of for so long and loved and my mother in law had comments about them when I told her and also my mom would say "oh are you sure" and come up with something to make me not like the name anymore and it just made me rethink the name I really loved. So this time no one is going to know so they can't say anything and by then it'll already be their name so I don't care. But also I don't think anyone would say anything rude if it's already their name:) just my thoughts.

We've just been calling the baby by the middle name initial  since the middle name is unisex. We call our bean baby J... No announcement til baby is born thov

I've discussed our options with others already, family & friends. I don't mind their opinions, sometimes they're helpful! I like feedback on my choices and I like hearing others options too, I just want to make sure I choose a great name. Once I finally decide on a name & find one I really love, I'm gonna shout it from the roof tops & anyone who has anything to say can bug off. My baby, my choice. All this hiding & waiting stuff is kinda weird to me, people act like its some top secret government mission that no one is allowed to know about lol to each their own but I'm not hiding anything. I'm having fun with it 😊

We told with both of my children but will not be telling this time. I hated the stupid comments, mostly from his family, about the names we chose.

I told people when we named our son. I didn't care what people thought I wanted to call him Lawrence and that's what I did.

We have been telling people but I think it is up to you. I still reserve the right to change the name once the baby is here. But I would probably slip up and call her by her name anyway in front of people so I may as well tell.

We have a name, it's a family babe and we are set on it. Last week we had dinner with my father in law and he basically pleaded with us to not use it. It was his father's name and his father didn't like it, so he's trying to save our kid the same hassle. We get it, but we're both set in it. He lightened up when we told him their middle name was after him.. 😜. People are harsh in their reactions to names. Be prepared for that wherever you choose to reveal.
