Medicaid treatment
Wondering if anyone feels like they were treated different for being on Medicaid...or they've had other insurance at one point as well as Medicaid and noticed a big difference. Or any healthcare workers know this to be true? I'm not really talking about people being snotty or anything more so the quality of care.
I'm 38 weeks pregnant & everyone at the hospital I go to is friendly (the front desk, nurse, my doctor is friendly so that's not the issue). My appointments are usually really rushed feeling. I get my blood pressure taken, they check baby's heart rate, I get asked a couple questions usually about the baby's movement & if I've had any unusual bleeding/discharge...then I get asked if I have any questions (that's the part I usually get rushed through). I'm 38 weeks now & I'm not sure if I'm just being paranoid or thinking too much about this. When I first started going to the hospital the doctor I chose for delivery was supposedly booked for deliveries in my month and so was every doctor at that hospital except for one & she had one opening left? Which I didn't think anything of at the time but now seems a little weird? When I had my blood work done my doctor told me my iron was on the low side & it wouldn't be a bad idea to start taking a supplement...that was early on around 23 weeks but she's never done a follow up to see if I'm still low. At my last visit I mentioned wondering about my iron because I've been extremely tired but she wasn't concerned & her response was pretty much "it'll probably be on the low side...it's typical". I don't get my urine tested every visit...they only checked at my first visit. In general my doctor doesn't seem too concerned with anything I've brought up & it's usually dismissed as a typical pregnancy symptom...which it could very well be but I've had a few weird ones too. Feet, hands, face swelling a bit, one day I had eye floaters (that lasted about 30 seconds. I've also gained a lot of weight (50 pounds) but I was the one that had to bring that up as well because my doctor didn't even notice...to be fair I don't look like I've put on that much weight but I thought doctors were supposed to keep an eye on weight gain or at least take note of it? I'm wondering if my doctor is just kinda crappy, if I'm crazy, or if it has anything to do with me having Medicaid? Also the hospital I go to is in a really wealthy area so not sure if I'm one of the freak Medicaid patients? I'm wondering if I'm being offered less tests because of it? And also worried about being rushed through the delivery/recovery stage.
Update: There's one or two comments saying that the doctors/nurses don't see that info but I know for a fact they do...they pull up my file on a computer in the exam room at each visit with it on there & I'm sent back from the front desk with a print out of my info to hand off as well...it's also listed on there.
