Is Teen Mom encouraging?

Do you think shows like Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant are encouraging for teens to want and try to get pregnant while they are still in high school? Do you think those shows glamorize motherhood at a young age?

I don't think the show itself glamorizes teen pregnancy, it's more about what they do after the show. These girls are RICH because they lucked out and got on a show for being knocked up. It's not realistic at all and young girls may think it's easy because these chicks do it. But on the show itself you can see the trouble they go to with being parents, wives or gfs, and daughters. I remember watching them a few years ago and thinking how hard it was for them to be single mothers at such a young age. If girls are watching this show and thinking they should get pregnant, then they probably would have done it anyway. They clearly don't understand how hard it is.

U think their intentions were good , because 16 and pregnant was a documentary . There were no fancy homes or cars , just real families and real situations.  Fathers  leaving the mothers , not helping when the babies arrive,  domestic disputes ,etc. 
Teen Mom however, no. Even though the situations are "real" they aren't struggling.  do you know a girl  that got pregnant at 16 and now they are  making mega bucks with hundred thousand dollar homes and brand new vehicles?
 .... yea , me neither .

I think initially it was supposed to show how hard it is being a teenage mother, but now it glamorizes it too much.

It doesn't seem glamorous at all. I watched it from 13-16 and it didn't make me want to get pregnant

Unfortunately ,  the teenagers who "want" to get pregnant  do not look at the struggles  these kids have gone through.  They view the show with their "rose tinted glasses". They want what they want and have their mind set on doing so.

I see many people  reply how the teen pregnancy  rate dropped after this show .   I'm curious  where the stats are as I have not heard this before.  I'm interested  at looking  at them.  I really hope that's true, I really  do.

*side note -I'm not saying  all teens or most.

Yes, I think it totally  glamorizes  teen pregnancy .   Matter of fact, many  teens continue to apply for the show in hopes they will get famous, pais, etc and try to get pregnant  just for the show     They did a piece about this not too long ago

Since the show came out it has actually shown it lowered teen pregnancy rates. Plus Maci (I think) speaks out constantly on how hard it was, trying to finish high school and have a baby.

If they can use it as an educational tool why not. I see it like the movie "Mean Girls" it was shown to lower bullying rates.
