Waterproofing your bed?

When, if at all, did you guys throw down some waterproof material on your bed in case your water breaks in bed?

The waterproof cover isn't just for the water breaking, it's also good for all the leaking after delivery. There will be milk puddles for a lot of women!

I put the plastic/rubber part of a shower curtain down under my sheets with my first 2!

Never did. But a friend of mine slept on puppy pads her last few weeks. She also put them on the couch and in the car in case her water broke there. I don't know how much good they would do, if any. For my first birth we had a homebirth planned and I thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and waterproof the bed a few days early, by putting down a set of sheets, then a shower curtain, then some more sheets. That was a terrible idea. I woke up sweating to death!

I figured I'd just pick up a couple of these. One for bed, one for recliner. They might come in handy after birth with any leakage that may occur. Thanks for all your suggestions 😊

I have a mattress protector but nearly 90 percent of women don't experience their water breaking until more serious labor (and a majority of that 90 percent have their waters broken in the hospital).  Even if it does break in sleep, for many it isn't a huge gush - so odds are you wont need much protection.  I'd sleep with a maxi pad though!

I have a waterproof mattress pad that stays on our bed all of the time so we are good. :) Those things work wonders! Especially when potty training a puppy... LOL

We have mattress protectors on all beds in house. Even before we got pregnant, if you read the warrant on your mattress is only valid if it has a cover believe it or not lol

Yah but it's just a mattress protector. I'm due with my third at end of July and my water has never broke on its own. My doctor has always had to break it.
