IUD Experiences.

Background: I'm 23 and on 4/29 I schedule an appointment at plan parenthood for my first every gyno. appointment. During this I got a paps smear and an iud inserted. Unfortunately I didn't read about the tips of getting it placed during your period. I won't lie, it was painful but not umbearable, it only last a couple seconds, the worst part was when she measured my uterus. I had some cramps follow for about a day afterwards and on 5/14 I got my period, right on schedule. I'm constantly checking the string though and it now feels like it almost wrapped around my cervix. My period though, which is normally 4-6 days long has been going on for about 18 days now... when it first started it was much heavier than normal, and then started to lighten up. Then it started turning brown and stayed like that for a few days, I figured my period was coming to an end but then I started bleed lightly. It's been going back and forth between brown and a light period for a few days now.

I'd love to know everyone experiences, I'm curious to see if what I'm going through is normal as well as what to expect.
