Formula-BF-Pump
Just putting it out there & would appreciate negative comments to stay out, but if you feel the need to shame me- fine by me because I'm in such a good place right now and I want to share how I got here for moms who are feeling how I felt a few days ago.
I struggled for 4 weeks BF- I had to use nipple shield, my baby screamed all day, and was gaining weight, but not enough by a long shot (doctors were worried). My instincts began to tell me that the stuggle was simply because she was hungry. I needed someone to tell me it was okay to do a mix of formula, pumped milk and breast which is what I felt I needed to do. Both my LC and pediatrician gave me the go ahead. So, for the last 3 days I've BF in the middle of the night, early morning and late evening. During the day I pump every 2-3 hours and get about 3oz a session that I use during all late morning-early evening feedings. I give her 2oz BM followed by 2oz formula. My baby is happy, smiling and not screaming all day. She's taking normal baby naps during the day and sleeping 5 HR stretches at night. I feel less stress, I'm smiling again and now my hubby and others can help with some of the burden of feeding! My life has changed in 3 days!
Listen is this right for everyone? No, I'm an advocate for doing what is best for you and your LO, but I could have used someone writing something like this earlier when I was trying to make the choice to do this.
The end. 😊
