can obgyn not accept me as a patient ?

im moving and i am 29 weeks pregnant. i was seeing obgyn in florida and they faxed over my records to the clinic i will be seeing in MA. they said they will get back to me and let me know if they can accept me as a patient ? can they not accept me ? please give me ur feedback whoever knows.. its my first pregnancy and i might be overthinking but i just want toknow

Most won't except after 18-25 weeks. Depends on the dr. My dr dropped me after he got pissy for me asking for a second opinion on a test. If my aunt didn't work for my new dr he wouldn't have taken me. Their cut off is 18 weeks.

They can choose not to accept patients due to liability concerns.  Some will cut off taking new patients at 25 weeks. It's ultimately up to the Dr or sometimes the practice policies on the cut off. I know this because I used to work as an appointment scheduler at an OB office.

I am having to change doctors at 34 weeks due to us moving. I had called 4 doctors before anyone would even consider taking me. I am not high risk, but since it is so late, they denied me. Luckily I found someone to take me and all should be good!

Are you high risk ?They could not accept high risk patients.  They will advise you so don't overthink.

Yes they can refuse you on the basis of how far along you are, if the records you sent are incomplete, or your insurances isn't taken, or if they aren't accepting new patients. I too moved to a new area and had all of these excuses given to me for a reason to refuse me. Even tho my pregnancy is not high risk, some offices have guidelines for who, what, why, and when they accept new patients I guess.

once they have ya records they shouldn't deny u..I changed my doctor n she just wrote a letter n sent my records to my new obgyn ...no issue
