Breast feeding?

Question

My boyfriend wants me to breast feed but I on the other hand do not want to. But I promised I'd look into it. 
Do y'all mind giving reasons why I should or shouldn't? 
I feel like they can get the nutrients they need from formula and I don't want to deal with the hassle of breast feeding. My mom didn't breast feed and I think I just grew up feeling weird about it. Anyways I'll be looking into it just want to hear what you ladies think or if you want to try and change my mind. :)

FREE FOOD haha i want to breastfeed as its free, much better for the child. I will be mix feeding breast and pumping but biggest thing for me is its free 😃

You can always pump as an alternative but milk from the source is always healthier than supplemented. It protects baby from disease, helps prevent allergies, I believe lowers risk of PPD and creates bonding between you and baby if you don't pump.

I think the biggest benefits of breastfeeding are the antibodies you pass along to your baby and the bonding experience.  Plus it's free!  That's just my opinion.  However,  you are the only one who can decide to breastfeed.  If it's not something you are comfortable with,  there is nothing wrong with feeding formula.  Your boyfriend may want the baby to be breastfed but at the end of the day,  it's not his body and not his choice.  The most important thing is that your baby is fed,  not how it is fed.

Aside from the many benefits to the baby & you of breast feeding the simplicity & convinience is the major selling point in my opinion. You will always be able to feed your baby wherever you are, no need to carry bottles or formula. No warming & sterilising. I fed my baby in so many places, up mountains, on hikes, on airplanes, at the swimming pool & all the normal places. I never once experienced any negative attention because I was feeding & it was just so easy to get on with life with one less thing to worry about. Good luck, whatever method you choose x

4.Scheduling feedings may be easier. Formula isn't digested as quickly as breast milk, so formula-fed babies don't need to eat as often, especially in the first few months.

5.You don't have to worry about what you eat. Moms who breastfeed may have to avoid certain foods that her baby can't tolerate.

6. You can have a glass of wine or a cocktail once in a while. Alcohol is a no-no for women who breastfeed because they pass on tiny amounts of it to their babies. (Can still have a drink when breastfeeding)

Tbh breastfeeding isn't bad, I've been doing it for about a year now. It wasn't easy at first due to latching issues but a nipple shield fixed that

When you go out and about, there's no fuss about dealing with the formula, finding water, warming it up, dealing with dirty bottles... Don't need to do anything for breast feeding, it's just there and ready. And it helps you lose weight after baby and gives you and baby a wonderful bond.

I think you should do whatever is comfortable for you despite what is the healthiest. I'm a labor and delivery nurse and I have seen this situation before and it never ends well. The mom develops hatred towards feeding time. Dad is still pressuring her two days into this whole process. Mom is still wanting to formula feed. Her milk comes in because of two days of stimulation to the breast that she didn't even want. Now she gets to deal with engorgement and she will inevitably quit nursing if her heart isn't into it. I think you should do Whatever feels right to you. Although I love  reastfeeding I will never push my patients into it if it's not what they want because it's a tremendous amount of work in the beginning to get it established correctly. Most important thing is that your baby is getting nourished no matter if it's breast milk or formula. You will be happier in the end doing what feels right doe you. .

A lot of posts on positive for breast feeding..... I plan to do this w my current baby due today! However just done positive sides for formula fed babies. My first two children I did not breast feed. My son was NICU for a week they started formula for blood sugar he never wanted to breast feed....he's now 8 healthy, huge and VERY smart. My second baby I tried for two weeks. I was going through a divorce and dealing w a toddler so it was easier to bottle feed. She is now 6, gorgeous and very smart. Only issue any of my children had was my son had acid reflux. But other then that my kids were HUGE babies and where always off charts in measurements. Hardly ever sick. Ik breast is best and what not but foe those of us who chose formula there was NOTHING wrong w my children. Good luck w whatever decision you make.
