We let our baby sleep with it until she was arm drop asleep and then would slip it out. But now that she is 2 months she prefers her thumb, unfortunately, and can't get her to take a pacifier. Its gonna be a pain to wean her off of thumb sucking, but I want her to be happy and it makes her happy, so I will that later.

I've given my 7 week old one anytime he wants it going to sleep. My first child did too and the best is when they get old enough to find it and put it back in if they wake up. She gave her's up though at 8 months, she had them around and in crib but just stopped having anything to do with them anymore so I then tossed them.

My son takes one to go to sleep, he has since he was a day old. He drops it out shortly after falling asleep and still stays asleep

You aren't supposed to let them sleep with them in their mouth, it can choked them in their sleep or break and go down their throat.
