Deli sandwiches?

Not sure if it's safe to eat deli sandwiches. 26 weeks & just had a turkey and swish cheese sandwich.🙁

I eat them daily. It's how I get my protien because cooked meats sick me out. My OB said it's absolutely fine and you have a higher change of getting listeria from a salad than you do deli meats.

I believe that the only dangerous meat would be cured meats because they are not fully cooked. Turkey is not cured. My doctor said its fine so long as it's not room temp (bacteria festers at room temp). If it's supposed to be cold, eat it cold, of its supposed to be hot, eat it hot.

Most doctors would say to not eat turkey deli meat unless you heat it up. You could find another option- poached chicken that's chilled, maybe? This is a good question for your doctor.

My nurse told me if I bought the meat from the store and went straight home it's perfectly safe. If I go to a sub shop to have them toast the meat to warm it just to be on the safe side since that meat can sit there for a while. 😉
