it depends. if the breakup was mutual, or you guys ended on good terms, then maybe. as long as there's boundaries & it remains as just friends. i've tried to stay friends with exes, but it never works out. they would still try to get at me or something.

Yes but you need space immediately so you can move on, revisit it at a later time so you can be friends without the muddying of the waters.

I am friend with my ex of 3 yrs. I even ask him for relationship advice. Haha. We are cool. I didn't think him and I would ever be friends cuz of the three yrs and I was in love with him but yeah. Plus we are not in the same state anymore so it's even easier.

Either I try to get with them somewhere down the road or they try to get with me, I'm sure it's possible for some people to stay friends with exes or for it to work in a very special set of circumstances but by and large I don't think it's usually a good idea. Somebody always has residual feelings or attraction...
