Is this contractions? Read Description

Question

Every 4 or so minutes I have a sharp pain for a few seconds then it fades away. It makes my uterus feel hard, like a tightening. I have a laminaria placed in for my d&c tomorrow, and doctor said the laminaria may cause me to go into labor instead. What do I do if it is contractions??? It's bearable but very uncomfortable

Contractions will make you lower abdomen get very hard. Usually when they first start they are bearable but very uncomfortable as they come on. They will be consistent and anywhere from 2-5 minutes apart. Get in a warm bath for a few. If it stops it's likely Braxton hicks if it still continues its contractions and could probably wait it out but if it becomes painful go in and have them check you. I hope this helps out a little .

Contractions last a minute or more not a few seconds. Also, you'll know when it's contractions. You won't be asking us you'll be announcing that you're baby will be arriving shortly.
