Can someone please explain to me what it feels like?

Question

I've heard of Braxton hicks.. no clue what they feel like.. so? 
Also, what does the beginning stages of labor feel like? 
I mean I know the basics but Its all tv that I know. I want to know the truth from women who are actually experienced.
I'm a FTM and 28 weeks and I don't want the unknown to cause harm to my boy ♡♡

For me when I get Braxton Hicks my lower belly feels very hard and tight and I feel like I can't take a deep breath. No pain at all, the breathlessness is actually the most obvious part of it for me.

My early labour felt exactly like regular period cramps. I was in labour for about 24 hours (not complaining, the first 21 hours was very slow and easy but got me to 7cm dialated!) and during that time I only ever felt pain in my cervix. I never felt pain in my back or my whole belt like some women describe. I actually knew it was time to push because I had a contraction that felt different, I felt it for the first time in my belly and wrapping around my body. He was born 10 minutes later.

When you have BH you'll just randomly feel your whole stomach contract and get hard for a few seconds and then it will relax again, it's typically painless and just uncomfortable....however this is my second baby and I have mild period like cramping that comes with them. Early labor to me felt like BH and menstrual cramps to me...my water didn't break on its own and I didn't have any nausea or diarrhea beforehand like some women do. I was nesting like crazy though, my contractions began while I was scrubbing my bathtub at 5am lol

I would suggest taking a birthing class. The hospital you will deliver at should provide classes at a decent price. This way you won't have any biased opinions; every labor/mom is different-you don't want to have false hopes/disappointments when your labor is different than the moms providing you with personal info. Braxton hicks your tummy gets hard and only last a minute no pain just uncomfortable. 
Contractions can hurt in your back and stomach like period cramps. Mine I felt more in my and super sharp pains along with pressure and they will get more intense the further dialated you get
