cold sores & herpes . Difference? Help 😭😭

I might sound and hope I do sound stupid, but I've seen a lot of posts about herpes and really didn't know much. Anyway, I have gotten cold sores(lips)!quite often from when I was younger, and was given stuff at the doctors for them at the time. I don't get them as often anymore unless I'm run down or poorly. But anyway I never did any sexual activity whilst I had them, and never had sex with anyone that did have them ? + i had a whole STI check a few month ago and I came back all clear, is herpes checked during a full sti check?? I was just making sure that just because I got cold sores ( ONLY ON MY LIPS)b when I was poorly that I wasn't infected with the STI herpes, I am so sorry if i sound stupid but just need reassurance and told 🙄
