Brock turner case and rape awareness

Lynda
This is not so much of a question asking if people agree or disagree. And anyone has the right to, but this is just me saying that I am absolutely disgusted with the descion of the judge, but I think most of us are. And that sentence needs to be changed. But as horrifying, painful, and angering this case has been to follow, I think it did raise a lot of awareness for rape victims and how all too often, rapists do not get the proper sentencing and even do not get any time  at all.  I think a lot of people were unaware of how often this happens until now, and I myself am so thankful for the bravery and strength of the victim to speak out. I was a victim of statutory rape when I was 14 years old, by a 26 year old man. And you know what? He was sentenced to 6 months in jail, because it would "heavily impact his life anyway"
So I am just here to continue this ongoing movement of raising awareness for rape victims, because it's something that needs to be continued. Something that should of got this much attention a long time ago.
If any one who comes across this needs help or needs support, call RAINN - 1-800-656-HOPE: it is a rape crisis center hotline.
Let's all take a moment of silence to respect the bravery of the women who spoke out.
